Due Cycle 18

2/27/2014

Awesome Architecture:
  • Read p. 8-17 in the skyscraper section of your Awesome Architecture packet. Be ready to discuss what you learned because you'll need to use that information to help you design your own skyscraper!

Open Research:
  • Keep working on your projects. Your notes should be finished by now in order to finish on time and stress-free. All projects will be due during Cycle 19. (March 17)

Due Cycle 17

2/18/2014

Awesome Architecture:
Pick one of the following options. (You can do both if they really sound like something you'd enjoy!):
  1. Search for clues in an old house to try and discover the age of your house. See the section called "Searching for Clues to the History of Old Houses." Come in with a list of all the neat things you found!
  2. You play the architect and design (draw) your own house in a certain style of architecture that we looked at during Cycle 16. See the section called "Comparing the Design of Houses" for more details and pictures of different style houses. Don't forget that "Greek Revival" is a style that we looked at on the first day of workshops. Make the design your own -- feel free to add design features from other styles!

Open Research
  • You're on your own now! I will be checking in with you, but use your schedules and rubrics to stay on track. All projects are due Cycle 19!

Due Cycle 16

2/4/2014

Awesome Architecture:
  • Complete the "Falling Water Critical Thinking" questions on a sheet of notebook paper in your folder.

Open Research
  • Make sure you've completed your rubric (Grades 4 + 5). If you'd like to start working on collecting your research, now would be a good time! We will also work on collecting research in class during Cycle 16.
